Michael Mastanduno, moderator
Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Professor of Government
Mastanduno has served as Dean since 2010. He is an expert in the study of international relations, with teaching and research interests in international relations theory, U.S. foreign policy, and the politics of the global economy.
Stephon Alexander
The Ernest Everett Just 1907 Professor, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy
Alexander is a leading theoretical physicist who specializes in particle physics and cosmology. He also directs Dartmouth’s E.E. Just Program, which supports the achievement of underrepresented students in the sciences.
Leslie Butler
Associate Professor of History
Butler’s teaching and research focus on American cultural and intellectual history, in particular 19th-century Anglo-American liberalism. Her current book project explores suffragists and the connections between education and democratic citizenship.
Annette Gordon-Reed ’81
Dartmouth Trustee, Professor of Law, Professor of History, and Radcliffe Professor at Harvard University
Gordon-Reed is a MacArthur “Genius Award” recipient and the author of four books, including the 2009 Pulitzer Prize-winning The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family.
Joseph Helble
Dean of Thayer School of Engineering and Professor of Engineering
Helble has served since 2005 as the 12th Dean of Thayer School.
A chemical engineer with a focus on the environmental impacts of fossil energy utilization, he was previously head of the chemical engineering department at the University of Connecticut.
Donald Pease
The Ted and Helen Geisel Third Century Professor in the Humanities
Pease is a leading American studies scholar and a legendary Dartmouth professor. A member of the faculty since 1973, he chairs Dartmouth’s Liberal Studies Program and is the biographer of Theodor Geisel (“Dr. Seuss”), Class of 1925.
